$50.00 Goat is a Houston, TX-based whiplash punk unit that harvests from the history of punk
and hardcore to create a sound that blisters with the new and old. At live gigs, they are known
to cover Wire, GBH, X, and beyond, while their tunes like "Eat Shit Die Full" combine a blood-panic speed, sense of total vengeance, and thunderous clamor. Other tunes remain a lesson in revolt and hectic energies, like "The Raven," which is also a mash-up of Romantic literature by the likes of Edgar Allen Poe and William Blake shoved into a hardcore template. Led by Melissa Bransfield Waters ("Mell Hell"), whose gruff voice and walloping bass help shape the key power ingredients, the band also features former members of the Texas Mod Crushers on sizzling shrapnel guitar as well as writer/professor/photographer David Ensminger on drums (formerly of the Hates), who lends his wildcat technique to the volatile mix.
